Jane Austen/Regency-era Concert
Performed on historical instruments
As part of our “Jane Austen month” celebrations join The Picadillys for a delightful concert of music of the Jane Austen and Regency eras, performed on period instruments, in costume. It is our wish to present a concert as it might have been during Miss Austen’s time.
Question and discussion time with our musicians about their instruments and the music when joining in zoom.
SATURDAY JANUARY 30th
10am–11:30am pst (1pm–2:30pm est)
Dances and chamber music to be presented on historical instruments and reproductions, including an 1829 Broadwood grand pianoforte, chalumeau, voice flute recorder, flageolet recorder, harp, and Northumbrian smallpipes. The innovations being made in these instruments will be presented.
FEATURED on the PROGRAM:
Quadrilles by Thomas Wilson
•
Piano music by Jane Mary Guest
•
the famous New Drops of Brandy
played on the quintessential Northumbrian smallpipes
•
Music of George Frederic Handel
Event is being offered free of charge
A donation button will be available to support our musicians!
Jane Austen/Regency fans we invite you to dress “in style” for our concert! (Costumes are for fun and not required!)
