JANUARY NEWS & EVENTS UPDATE!

Due to the uncertainties of the current health situation and our love for our dance community, we have decided to not host dance events or dance classes for the month of January. There will be

NO DANCE CLASSES or
JANE AUSTEN TEA SOCIAL in January.

We plan to “bump our schedule forward” and host our Jane Austen Tea Social on the soonest Sunday the health environment looks safe enough to dance. We will give you all fair warning of the new date and send out a ticket payment link prior to the event when we are certain to all those who have registered.

TUESDAY DANCE CLASSES & SUNDAY AFTERNOON DANCES will be back again one day soon. Stay tuned for news and updates by joining our mailing list and adding us to your contacts.

From Jane Austen to Fezziwig, and Beyond:
Why the last dance of the evening
became the best dance of the night

with Susan de Guardiola

The ball is almost over: you've worn holes in your slippers, your hair is coming down, and you may be a little bit drunk — but you still want that one last dance, the finishing dance!  Whether it's La Boulangere (the only dance mentioned by name in Jane Austen's novels) or Sir Roger de Coverley (stretching through the Regency to Charles Dickens), or the Grandfather dance, the finishing dance was your last hurrah of the evening.

Internationally-known dance historian Susan de Guardiola returns to guide us through stories of the joyful chaos of the final dances in the glittering Regency ballrooms of England and Europe and across the Atlantic to their North American descendants.
