A Victorian Tea Dance with Susan de Guardiola
We are thrilled to welcome the incomparable Susan de Guardiola, visiting us all the way from the East Coast, for an unforgettable day of Victorian dance, history, and great stories!
Susan is a renowned dance historian, teacher, and caller, based in New Haven, Connecticut. With decades of experience teaching and leading dance events across the globe, she specializes in historical social dances from the Renaissance through the early 20th century. Susan’s passion and expertise span Italian court dances of the late 16th century, Regency-era English and French dances, the Napoleonic and Victorian periods, and even early 20th-century pre-WWI styles.
Join us as Susan leads us on a journey 'around the world' and across centuries in this one-of-a-kind dance event:
✨ Delight in the Polo Quadrille from 1880s New York
✨ Savor the elegance of the “Asia” figure from an 1860s French quadrille
✨ Energize with the spirited English Galopade Quadrille from the 1840s
✨ Enjoy fun and easy American country dances, with a touch of English and French couple dances
Come share this rare opportunity to dance, learn, and immerse yourself in history with one of the leading figures in the world of historical social dance!

COSTUMES? ONLY IF YOU WISH!
Though many dancers enjoy wearing the lovely costumes for this event, there are always friends in modern casual dress. We subscribe to the popular phrase, “Costumes admired but not required.”
IMPORTANT COSTUME NOTE:
If you choose to wear a costume please be certain you can move easily in your costume and do not wear anything that would impede you, or others, while dancing. Please note dresses that trail on the ground are not allowed as they impede dancing for all. High heels are not recommended for this style of dance.

2nd, 4th & 5th TUESDAY NIGHT DANCES
Skandia Hall in Pasadena
7:15pm–9:30pm
Whether you are brand new or LOVE this style of dancing, Tuesday nights in Pasadena is where you learn the skills to dance with elegance and ease! It’s a great mid-week pick-me-up with dance friends old and new.
Plan on sticking around for after-hours socializing and getting the latest details on a favorite dance, the next ball, or that costume question you always wanted to ask.
P.S. If our dates and links haven’t updated yet, just email us for the link. We are a group of volunteers and don’t always remember what we’ve forgotten about. We dance (almost) EVERY 2nd, 4th, and 5th Tuesday!
